A successful Copilot trial opens the door to a much bigger customer conversation and a bigger role for partners. Once users experience the value of AI in their daily work, partners can guide customers to extend that value across teams, workflows, and business processes while maintaining the security, governance, and cost controls needed to scale. In my recent post, From AI curiosity to Copilot adoption in 30 Days, I introduced how Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners can use a guided, 25-user trial to bring Microsoft 365 Copilot Business to small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers. That initial experience creates momentum, but sustaining it requires a structured approach to adoption, governance, and expansion. The opportunity is growing with the new Copilot, which brings Home, Code, and Autopilot together in one connected experience. Combined with a commercial model that supports subscriptions and usage-based billing, these advances create new ways for customers to move from AI assistance to delegated work and agent-powered business processes. For partners, this expands opportunities across the customer lifecycle, from guiding adoption and securing environments to developing agents, managing AI consumption, and delivering ongoing services. The key is connecting these capabilities into a repeatable practice that evolves alongside customer needs. Build on the momentum of Copilot in 30 The first 30 days give customers a practical foundation for working with AI. Through Copilot in 30, users explore how Microsoft 365 Copilot Business can improve everyday productivity across Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint before progressing to agents and more advanced scenarios. The Copilot Success Planner gives partners a structured way to guide this experience. It creates personalized learning plans for the 25 trial users, along with a roadmap for the customer sponsor. The guided journey builds skills progressively. If the sponsor enables Copilot Cowork, Weeks 3 and 4 add Cowork prompts that introduce the possibilities of delegated work. At the end of the trial, partners can use the sponsor's Day 30 value readout to identify where Copilot delivered results, which users and teams are ready to expand, and where additional capabilities could create business value. That conversation now has a broader destination. With the new Copilot, customers can move through connected experiences: Home brings Chat, Copilot Cowork, and Office together, so users can ask questions, create content, and delegate more complex work. Code extends AI-powered solution development, so users can turn natural-language ideas into apps, dashboards, automations, and workflows. Autopilot introduces a persistent, proactive personal agent designed to keep work moving within organizational permissions. Home and Code are rolling out through the Frontier program, and Autopilot is in private preview. They expand what customers can explore as their AI maturity grows, building on the foundation of everyday Copilot adoption. For partners, the next step is to turn early success into a longer-term customer roadmap. The Microsoft 365 Copilot + Agents SMB Guided Experience (download kit) provides a ready-to-deliver, 90-minute engagement to reinforce value, explore new scenarios, and guide the transition toward broader adoption. Hi all, I'm interested to see whether anyone else is experiencing this issue, particularly in an RDS environment. We have a number of users who have paid-for Microsoft 365 Copilot licences, including the integration within Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel. In Outlook Classic running on our Windows Server 2019 RDS environment, Copilot no longer works correctly. When a user presses Alt + I to Draft with Copilot, or clicks the Copilot pencil icon within the body of an email, and then enters a prompt, Copilot displays "Writing your email" and the blue progress bar starts moving from left to right. At that point it freezes, Outlook crashes, and closes. In some cases Outlook will automatically reopen after the crash. The Copilot integration appears to work fine in Excel and Word. Is anyone else running Outlook Classic in a Windows Server 2019 RDS environment with Microsoft 365 Copilot licences? I would be interested to know if you have experienced the same issue. I've tried repairing and reinstalling Office apps, and always ensure they are fully up to date. Thanks.1.4KViews1like12CommentsNews to Know – Volume 3, Edition 11, October 2026
October brings clearer program setup and broader support for organizational-data integration, along with new private-preview opportunities for reporting and Copilot experiences. This edition covers what is available now and gives you an early look at administration, exports, insights, and survey management capabilities planned for the months ahead. New on your Viva Glint platform This section highlights new capabilities now available on your Viva Glint platform this month. Program setup: Clearer required-field indicators. Missed or skipped required fields will also be clearly identified. There have not been any changes to which fields are required and which are optional. Viva Glint Questions setup | Microsoft Learn Viva Glint integration with Microsoft 365 Organizational Data Service is rolling out to General Availability (GA) and will be available to all customers by the end of October. With GA, we are expanding support to a broader range of customer environments, including organizations with multiple Glint instances, MTO/CTS policies, and Microsoft 365 Government Community Cloud Moderate (GCC Moderate). The GA release also introduces several new capabilities, including email notifications, multiple connectors to support phased data ingestion, and Microsoft Purview integration for audit events, making it easier for organizations to manage, monitor, and govern their employee data integration. Coming soon to Viva Glint The following section offers an early look at capabilities coming to Glint in upcoming releases. Multi-attribute report exports for more roles | Private preview in October. Managers, leaders, analysts, and HR business partners in the private preview can export filtered, grouped, cross-dimensional report data for analysis outside Viva Glint. The update expands access beyond administrators and supports more flexible analysis while keeping permissions under administrative control. Viva Glint Multi-Attribute Export – Private Preview Sign-Up form Copilot Results Summarization | Private preview in early November. Results Summarization makes it easier for your managers and leaders to understand, explore, root cause and act on their Viva Glint results and comments. The Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat experience within Viva Glint brings together scores, benchmarks, changes, response rates, drivers, and comment themes for demographic breakdowns and segmented populations in one grounded conversation, so they can ask questions, spot patterns, make comparisons and dig deeper into your results. Join the private preview and help shape the experience through feedback sessions. Sign up here Continuous Engagement self-service administration | Private preview in November. Following additional engineering work, the administration update previously targeted for October is now planned for November. Existing private-preview customers will be able to map eligible workplace metrics to survey questions through a guided setup flow, reducing manual coordination and giving administrators more control over the context managers see with survey results. Comments export with attributes | Private preview planned for November. Private-preview participants will be able to export comments to Excel with selected respondent attributes, preserving the report’s filters and groupings. This will enable deeper analysis of comment themes across employee groups outside Viva Glint, while respecting users’ reporting permissions and applicable confidentiality safeguards. Copilot Highlights with workplace-metric context | Preview in December. Following updated development sequencing, this capability is now targeting December. When Continuous Engagement preview is enabled, Copilot Highlights will add selective workplace-metric callouts when an eligible behavioral signal provides useful context for a survey strength or opportunity, helping leaders identify where deeper investigation may be useful. Survey administration: Bulk removal of participants | Generally available in December. Building on the existing ability to remove participants in groups of 25, administrators will be able to remove closed surveys with no limit using a file upload When users are removed, their survey response will be permanently deleted. Removal events will also be recorded in audit logs, helping teams correct survey populations without relying on support. See our public roadmap for more feature updates. New Thought Leadership The Next Generation of Employee Listening Research Report | Available October 28. Organizations have more ways than ever to hear from employees, but more channels don't automatically lead to better decisions. Our latest research showed that 74% of enterprise listening leaders reported expanding their listening channels, yet only 1 in 3 rated their systems as strong at influencing business decisions and connecting listening data to meaningful outcomes. The report explores how listening teams can move from managing listening activity to building a right-fit system around what the organization needs to understand. The report will be the first release on Glint Labs, a new home for research, frameworks, and resources from the Microsoft People Science team. Look for the launch announcement on Viva Community on October 28. EECC session details In this recent EECC session, we previewed Results Summarization in Viva Glint Copilot Chat, an updated experience that brings survey scores and comment analysis together in a conversational interface. Customers saw how managers and leaders can ask plain-language questions about response rates, strengths, opportunities, trends, benchmarks, demographic differences, and comments, without first building reports or configuring filters. The session included a live product demonstration, an overview of the people-science research and evaluation shaping the experience, and details about the private preview. Participants discussed organizational guidance for AI-supported interpretation and action taking, administrative controls, licensing, confidentiality, presentation templates, language support, and practical preview limitations. Key takeaways from the discussion included: Results Summarization is the first milestone in a broader roadmap that moves from understanding survey findings to drafting, managing, and following up on manager action plans. The preview combines quantitative scores with comment summarization and can dynamically apply filters to answer questions about trends, benchmarks, demographics, and differences between employee groups. People-science guidance is built into the experience to promote accurate, relevant, clear, and calibrated interpretations, including appropriate context for group size, score changes, benchmarks, and correlation versus causation. Existing Viva Glint permissions, confidentiality thresholds, and suppression rules continue to apply; Copilot receives only aggregated results that have passed those protections. Customers emphasized the need for organization-specific guidance, approved action resources, company templates, and more granular administrative controls. These needs are being explored as part of the manager action-taking roadmap. The private preview is planned for participating customers beginning in November, with a recommended small-group rollout and a 30-minute feedback session for selected organizations. General availability is targeted for early next year. The capability supports the languages available in Viva Glint and currently works with the last two closed surveys for ad hoc and recurring programs. During preview, users should work from the Executive Summary report, select benchmarks in the report, use explicit prompts, and begin a new chat when context becomes too complex. If you are not yet a member of the Employee Experience Customer Connection (EECC) but would like to participate in upcoming sessions and gain access to other engaging and valuable Glint and Pulse customer activities, please sign up using the EECC opt-in form.137Views0likes0CommentsCopilot, Microsoft 365 & Power Platform Community call

Hello everyone, I am currently testing a Microsoft Purview DLP policy for Microsoft 365 Copilot that is intended to prevent personal or sensitive information contained in a Copilot prompt from being used for a web search. When a user enters a prompt containing specific Sensitive Information Types (SITs), only the web search should be blocked. Copilot should still process the prompt and, if possible, provide a response without using web search or sending the detected sensitive information to the web search service. Configuration In Microsoft Purview, I only have the following actions available: Processing of prompts → Block Performing web searches → Block I tested both options separately. Behavior with “Processing prompts → Block” This works as expected: As soon as a configured SIT is detected in the prompt, processing is blocked immediately and Copilot displays a corresponding policy notification. Behavior with “Performing web searches → Block” I observe the following behavior: I send a prompt to Copilot that contains a SIT covered by the DLP policy. Copilot initially generates a normal response. In this response, Copilot indicates that the personal information was not used for the web search. However, the actual question is still answered. This response remains visible for approximately 1–2 seconds. The entire Copilot response then disappears. Instead, the following message is displayed: “Due to your organization’s policies, none of the requested files or resources are available.” The previously generated response, which was briefly visible, can no longer be accessed afterwards. Expected behavior Since I would like to use “Performing web searches → Block” in the DLP policy, I would expect that: the web search is blocked, sensitive information is not used for the web search, Copilot can still process the prompt, and the response generated by Copilot remains visible. Question Is this behavior expected when using the DLP action “Performing web searches → Block”? In particular, I would like to understand why Copilot initially generates and displays a response without using the sensitive information for the web search, but then completely removes this response a few seconds later and replaces it with the policy notification. Is it possible to configure additional actions in the DLP policy, or to select an option other than “Block”? I only have the two actions mentioned above available. I have attached the relevant screenshots. Please note that the attached screenshots are in German. Thank you in advance!170Views1like4Comments
